Punk for Paws 2019 Pictures

Punk for Paws 2019 Proceeds

  Sandra Valeriote, Administrative Assistant of OVC Pet Trust with Nicole Iarusci, UofG student and Punk for Paws organizer. Both are presenting the proceeds from Punk for Paws outside the main building of Ontario Veterinary College.       This past Thursday, I was lucky enough to experience another 'Punk for Paws' event at Lee's Palace. This was the second concert fundraiser I promoted for OVC Pet Trust ( www.pettrust.ca ). From ticket sales and donations, we raised a total of $2,025.00!  The donation to OVC Pet Trust will support research in the veterinary field and help our pets live healthier and happier lives.         It is bittersweet to wrap up Punk for Paws 2019. After months of planning, t here is no better feeling than walking into the venue and realizing the show date has arrived.  It was great to see family, friends, and unfamiliar faces enjoy a night of  live music for a great cause. I am very pleased with the event after multiple months of planning.            I combined the money from donations and ticket sales to get a total of $1,510.00 in proceeds. Post Punk for Paws: 03/05/18

                 I have always had a great appreciation for how music can bring people together. Music fans are able to connect through the therapeutic, cathartic and comforting environment of live music. It allows people t o experience a form of escapism and  motivate them  to live in the moment.  These positive effects can similarly be experienced through owning a pet .     A pet offers you unconditional love and a source of comfort through companionship. Animals  live in the moment and remind their owners to do the same . Similar to music, a pet acts as a companion to comfort you through all the different emotions experienced in life.  I wanted to combine both music and animals into an extracurricular project called Punk for Paws, to celebrate  the positive affects both have on our lives .                 As an aspiring veterinary student completing my second year of Animal Biology at the University of Guelph, I had the idea of organizing a third party fu
